ThugMo came out ready to play on Saturday, and easily won its first game against Cal Poly Pomona. After that, the wind began to pick up which became a huge factor in the rest of the games on Saturday. ThugMo played hard despite the wind, but lost a close game to Cal Poly SLO on a 3-point streak. SDSU threw a hard zone defense that we had trouble breaking -- we finally scored on an upwind goal on game point to avoid the shutout.
On Sunday, the wind was stronger with huge gusts. Our first game was a tough one against local rival Santa Clara. We mostly traded points for the first half but pulled to an early lead in the second half and won the game on huck from Scooter to Kevin. At semis we lost a rematch against SDSU, but we played much better, scoring a total of 4 points and forcing the hard cap. Since SLO wanted to play against their veteran team rather than rematch us, we were given a consolation game against UCLA B. We started off slowly, but finished the game strong to win it 11-7.
ThugMo's play this weekend was intense all around, with layout bids from everyone on the team including some sick layout D's from rookies Lay-rod and Clay.

On Saturday, San Diego got an early lead with a horizontal offense that ThugMo wasn't used to playing against. Once we got the hang of it, San Diego had already done enough damage, and they won by a fairly large margin. The second game was well played against the CSU Long Beach Stalkers, but a few key layout's and hucks gave ThugMo the win. In our third game, ThugMo faced an entirely different Pomona team than what we saw at SLO. We weren't expecting them to have improved so much, so they got an early lead. It was tooth- and-nail from there on out, with hardcap coming down at 9-9. After a few turns, Pomona made a floaty huck and had a ridiculously good grab to win it.
Coming off our our DGP loss to Pomona, ThugMo was fired up on sunday morning, coming out strong against UC Irvine to take half 7-5. However, UC Irvine rallied in the second half forcing another DGP match when hard cap came on at 10-10. After a nail-biting 5 minutes with missed scoring opportunities on both sides, Irvine finally worked it in to win. We kept the intensity up against Pepprdine, beating them 12-7. Our final game of the tournament was a rematch against Pomona, and this time ThugMo started and finished strong. The final score in that match was 13-6.

THUGMO 6 Lewis & Clark 13

Thugmo came out slow on Saturday, and quickly lost its first game against Oregon B. It was pretty much an all-uphill battle from there, and while ThugMo did step it up, we didn't win any games on Saturday.
After a disapointing, winless Saturday, Thugmo came out ready to play on Sunday. UCSB B came out strong to an early lead, but Thugmo stepped it up in the second half to win the game 11-8. By the time we got to play Pacific Lutheran, the wind had picked up and it began to rain. Thugmo didn't play so well in these conditions, and ended up losing 6-11.

THUGMO 10 CSU Long Beach 11
THUGMO 2 Cal Poly SLO 13
THUGMO 13 Arizona 7
THUGMO 12 UC Irvine 10
THUGMO 13 CSU Long Beach 11

Write Up:

On Saturday, Thugmo played well against San Diego, but unfortunately scored points slower and ended up losing 7-13. Our second game was a hard-fought rematch against CSU Long Beach. Despite performing very well on offense, our defense couldn't stop Long Beach and they ended up winning 11-10. After this game we were fairly exhausted, and just didn't play well against Cal Poly SLO, who quickly won 13-2. Thugmo stepped it up on Sunday, and after taking away Arizona's deep game, ended up with a pretty solid win against Arizona. Our next game was against Irvine, which was a close game that Thugmo ended up winning 12-10. Our final game was a rematch against CSU Long Beach. While we came out to an early lead, CSU Long Beach rallied late to make the score close. Thugmo finally scored on a great second-chance grab from Anand to win it 13-11.

THUGMO 12 UC Davis B 10
THUGMO 14 UCSC B 13
THUGMO 10 Santa Clara 15

Write Up:

At the first day of Sectionals, ThugMo got off to a slow start, scoring only 5 points against LPC. Our second game against Stanford was en even tougher match. Highlights from this include 2 hucks from Downie to Joel for goals, and one sick high grab from Clay over 3 Stanford defenders at the goal line. After that, we had a very well played game against Stanford B, which we unfortunately lost 10-13. In our final game on saturday, we came out strong against Davis B quickly getting to a 10-2 lead. Then, Davis went on a ridiculously long streak to bring the game to 10-8 before we traded points to win.
On Sunday, our first game against Santa Cruz B was another close, well-fought match of horizontal O and D. Hard cap came on at 13-13, and we pulled out a win on a goalline break. Unfortunately, this left us pretty drained when we began to play Santa Clara, so they got up to an early lead. Despite awesome plays late in the game, with huge hucks from Joel and Eugene, we still ended up losing 15-10.
